Why are Mac's pork products superior in quality and taste to all others?

Mac's Snacks, Inc. has been in the snack food business for 69 years; in fact Mac's was founded in 1932. This experience has enabled us to produce a premium quality product different from most manufacturers of pork rinds. Our pork rinds and cracklins are from the select fresh pork rinds. We use no ham, neck skins, or pieces. Our processing method enables us to give our finishing product more flavor, in addition it adds a golden color and bacon taste. The true pork skin lover prefers these unique characteristics along with our crunchy knurlds.

What are the shelf lives for pork rinds?

All products have expiration dates clearly visible on the front facings of each bag. From date of manufacturer the pork rinds expire in 4 months. When distributing these products it's very important to rotate the products on their display fixtures, making sure the products with older expiration dates are positioned up front on a floor rack and at the top, in the case of spinner racks and display strips. Customers will select these products first.

Why are packaging colors so important?

Bright colors attract customers to store fixtures and all the products displayed on these fixtures. Mac's packaging colors are bold, bright and shinny. These packages actually sparkle when light is reflecting from them. The main colors are red (hot), white (plain), yellow (plain), orange (BBQ), green (salt & vinegar) and black. Display all this colored packaging on a silver nickel-plated floor rack to create a very attractive colorful presentation that is sure to attract the attention of customers.

What are the nutrition characteristics of pork rinds?

Mac's pork skins offer superior nutrition compared to other snack foods. This product is very high in protein (63%) and has zero carbohydrates. Potato chips, corn chips, tortilla chips and cheese puffs contain low percentages of protein (less than 10%) and high percentages of carbohydrates (over 50%).

What are hard plain cracklins?

This product is normally the best seller because it serves so many purposes. Customers add plain cracklins to their to corn bread mixtures, stews and casseroles. Because this product is hard it retains consistency when cooked. A cracklin is soft when it breaks apart when squeezed between two fingers. The majority of competing cracklin products on the market are soft cracklins.

Are any of the products pre-marked with retail pricing?

The majority of the pork rind products are pre-marked with a 99 cents retail price. This saves time when servicing accounts, because pre-marked bags do not have to marked, using a pricing gun. All non pre-marked products, including all the jerky products, have to be marked with a retail price. This 99 cents pre-marked price is a big advantage, because in many markets, comparable pork rinds products are being retailed at higher prices, i.e. $1.09 - $1.39. Customers will pick up the lower priced bag, and once they taste any of the Mac's products, they will be hooked and buy these products over and over no matter what the retail price is. So when starting your business you have a big competitive advantage distributing a 99 cent pre-marked pork rind product.
